DEBUT HORROR COMIX AT THE BROOKLYN INDEPENDENT COMICS SHOWCASE 2026

This April 18 and 19th, at the Brooklyn Indie Comics Showcase (a.k.a., “BICS”), located at Industry City’s Box Factory, hosted by St. Mark’s Comics, I will be debuting two, new, grindhouse horror stories in one 32-page, black & white, comic book special!

First up, is BLOOD + BRAINS, written by Jeffrey Burandt, with art by Jason Goungor, lettering by Drew Close, and logo by Jeff Powell. Cover art by Jason Goungor with colors by Simon Gough.

Premise: “When the world is overrun by zombies, how will all the other man-eating monsters survive? A coven of vampires vows to protect a suburban community in exchange for the most valuable limited resource in the land: human blood!”

Next up, is WHOM SHALL THOU SUMMON?, written by Jeffrey Burandt, with art by Kenny Millien, and lettering and logo by Jeff Powell. Cover art by Kenny Millien, with colors by Shawn McArthur.

Premise: “When a team of professional ghost hunters are mysteriously murdered while investigating a mystical mansion, their own spirits rise again to haunt the house. Now the once heroic team known as, ‘The Haunt Blasters,’ must survive the afterlife, trapped inside with the evil entity who killed them!”

See you there!!!

SH3: Human Hunter

I see a similarly named (and great looking) book running a successful Kickstarter, so I thought I’d share this short story I published in 2012 that spun out of the planned ending for the Americans UK comic book series (that we never finished–one day, perhaps). SH3 tells the story of a super-android lady who is responsible for the near extinction of humans, and is trying to round up and save the remaining survivors, in an attempt to redeem herself. It was imagined as sort of a reverse Magnus, Robot Fighter. Written by Jeffrey Burandt, illustrated and colored by Paul Ciaravino, logo designed and lettered by Jeff Powell, “SH3: Human Hunter,” was first published on the now-defunct, online magazine, Trip City on August 1, 2012.

SH3 is an android who navigates a hellish dystopia of her own making, attempting to rebuild a world that she helped destroy, and save humanity from the brink of extinction.
