KILLER BAD is a superhero-horror comic book, told with 90’s flair! When an elite super-group travels to a remote island to retrieve a powerful artifact, they are stalked by a super-slasher, serial killer. Will this be the final mission for the Sick Squad Six? Friday the 13th meets The Boys.

Written by Jeffrey Burandt (Ghost Planet, Odd Schnozz & the Odd Squad), art by Jason Goungor (Megadeth: Death by Design, The Brooklynite), with logo, lettering and design by Jeff Powell (Infidel, Deadly Class). “Killer Bad the 13th,” Kickstarter exclusive, variant cover by Paul Ciaravino (Americans UK).

PREVIEW PAGES

Character Bible

  • WAR WOUND is an evil scientist’s mad experiment gone right. A swarm of self replicating, voodoo-infused nanites circulates through his blood stream, metaphysically reversing any attack on his person. You cut him, you bleed, you dig? Otherwise, he’s dead inside. He’s been having suicidal thoughts, recently, and he thinks he may be a sociopath. Maybe his assignment as the newest member of the super-powered outfit known as, “Sick Squad Six.” will lift his spirits.
  • DEATH CHEATER is tough, mean and can’t be killed. The biggest badass on the block and he knows it, Death Cheater lives a consequence-free life of murder and mayhem as a founding member of the Sick Squad Six. This new War Wound guy is really getting under his skin, no doubt.
  • MOLLY X is the super-seductress alter-ego of Malakiva Xin, a low-level psychic and highly accredited bioengineer. Her abilities make her interlocutors euphoric in her presence, and she easily manipulates her marks by making them dumb and horny with her hallucinogenic mind waves. Then she turns them into super monsters. It’s easy to fall hard for Molly X, cuz you trip all the way down.
  • BREAK SPEED is a pretty boy, super speedster and the team’s field leader. Former captain of his high school football team, now he quarterbacks for the special ops team of augmented anti-heroes known as the Sick Squad Six, even if it’s the super shadowy Mission Control that’s calling all the plays.

And here is the publisher’s description:

This year marks the 35thanniversary of the release of MEGADETH, to which the band is set to release their ultimate greatest hits compilation, WARHEADS ON FOREHEADS, on March 22.  To further celebrate this, MEGADETH has partnered with premiere comics publisher, HEAVY METAL, to create the ultimate fan experience with a 350-page anthology of comic stories inspired by all the songs on the album. The collaboration, titled

DEATH BY DESIGN, features stories written and illustrated by top talent from the comics, film, television and music world, all inspired by the songs from the album.

The project, carefully curated by DAVE MUSTAINE and HEAVY METAL, is a powerful book that gives both insight and understanding into the universe of MEGADETH and its harrowed mascot, VIC RATTLEHEAD.

Just Super 2 – Bibbin’s Bodega

Just Super is a series of vignettes about super-people reimagined as yet another wave of gentrification in the big city, co-created by me and artist ZEES. This second episode was originally published on the now defunct Trip City, an online arts magazine.Just-Super_2_02-1Just-Super_2_02-2Just-Super_2_02-3

After the villains, come the artists. After the artists, come the bars. Then the coffee shops and boutique stores. Once the boutique stores arrive, here come the heroes! Capes and cowls are just another wave of gentrification here in Zap City, jewel of the Meta East Coast. Think you’ve got problems? My landlord was bitten by something radioactive on the subway, and has since gained the proportional strength and stench of a rat! Just super.

Blood + Brains

B+B01_jefwritesB+B02_jefwritesB+B03_jefwritesB+B04_jefwritesB+B05_jefwrites

BLOOD + BRAINS by Jeffrey Burandt and Dean Haspiel was first published in December of 2012 in Image Comics’ Creator Owned Heroes #7, which you can buy now, digitally, on Comixology by clicking HERE.

Pitched as a full-length graphic novel, Blood + Brains takes the “vampires vs. zombies” premise, and pushes it to a whole new, adrenaline-infused level, where the ubiquitous zombie horde is but the first wave of monsters our protagonists must survive as they head out on a death-race, cattle-drive against werewolf motorcycle gangs, chupacabra long-haul truckers, and creepy, cancerous mutants. Penny Dreadful meets Mad Max.

Bleeding Cool says, “Smart storytelling can bring new life into any convention, walking dead included. And that is what “Blood + Brains” delivers, smart storytelling and new life […] into a trope that constantly seems to be on it’s last, undead legs.”

The Comics Beat says, “[D]eliver[s] something readers have simply never seen before, imploding any expectation of the familiar. [….] “Blood and Brains” retools zombie narrative by removing excess accretion and celebrating its potential in creator-owned style.”

Unleash the Fanboy says, “[Y]ou can’t help but love it.”
